Coronation Take Two

We chose to head back home instead of going to the MET Cloisters or taking another side trip.  Instead we got back to our friend's house and watched the last two Marvel movies on the list that we can watch at a home.  So Avengers: Infinity War and Ant-Man and the Wasp are now checked off the list. 

Yesterday's Coronation that I said I would write about today... we had a good time.  The general theme was 16th century Venetian and so those who had that style of garb to wear, did.  Thanks to K, I now have some 16th century Venetian. My hope is to round out my SCA wardrobe with some garb from different areas and time periods.  I will keep 12th century Norman as my go to though.  Any how, Z got an award!  He was awarded a Silver Wheel which is for service.  Well deserved!  The new King and Queen did very well, I thought, presiding over their first court, handing out awards and coming up with the right things to say.  Next weekend will be the first court that K and I will be doing. 

Today my happy is finishing up the Marvel movies.  I wonder what we will find to watch next?

Coronation

Today, a good friend became the Queen of the East.  There was much celebration and good cheer.  Many pictures were taken but it is late and so I will post more tomorrow about the event and happenings.  It was good, happy things happened.

Development

It was a professional development day for work today.   No students.   We learned about Executive Functioning, Work Study Practices and the different things that result in needing an Independent Education Program.   My big take-aways are that the students need to be taught how to learn at the beginning of every school year, that I can help the students better by learning the language of the Work Study Practices and I should try doing the Work Study Practices too.

The day was long.   Work was followed by hours of driving and now I am in an Air B&B far from home.  The weather was nice this morning but we drove through some snow and much rain before arriving at our destination.

My happy today is how blessed I am to have so many helpful and kind people in my life.

Tired Sewing

It is late and I have been sewing, with the machine this time and some hand stitching.  K is still sewing, my brain is tired though and so the sewing must stop for me.  I have a new chemise with a gown to go over it that are both mostly done.  Hopefully they will be even more mostly done by the time the event starts on Saturday.  More sewing is my happy for today.  Also just got a message from someone from my high school days who is living in Myanmar.  Now I must sleep.

Sewing short

In an attempt to help out with sewing I brought some hand stitching with me to work on during lunch break.  I pulled it out after I ate and couldn't find the needle!  I went through it all, then started clipping any long threads off while continuing to look for the needle.  I found it right when lunch ended and I had to go back to work.  I did finish doing what needed to be done after work.  Since that was done, I played some Minecraft before an early bedtime.  More sewing tomorrow after work.  Sewing is my happy for today.

Cats

Chloe, the cat, fell asleep in an odd position today.  She was mostly on her back, spread long, with a cat toy hanging in front of her.  It appeared that she fell asleep mid swipe of the toy.  I managed to sneak up on her and take many pictures.  When I went to look at the pictures they were not on my phone.  I have no idea what happened but this is not the first time I thought I took pictures and then couldn't find them.  I got a picture of her in a box soon after, but it isn't the same.  Heather, the other cat, the cat that likes me, just finished walking all over my keyboard as I prepared to write this.  She was nice enough to pose.   😉

My friend and I watched Black Panther tonight.  Cats seem to be my theme for today.  It seemed a bit more serious than most of the other Marvel movies we have seen.  We only have a few more left before the one that is in the theater.  Hopefully it will still be in the theater in a week or two when we are caught up.  When I say we, I mean me.  I am the one who hasn't kept up with watching all these shows.  It has been fun having all these movie nights.

It was a lovely day and we went for a walk.  The air was fresh and it felt good to be outside.  Fresh air and cat snuggles are my happy things for today.

Education

After school I did a real quick check of my email before heading off on my errands and home.  There was an email from Gideon.  He occasionally sends something, usually a link to a spreadsheet about Dungeons and Dragons or some other thing that he dreams up.  Today the subject line was 'Homeschool Schedule'.  This confused me as he goes to public school and whenever homeschooling is brought up he doesn't seem to like the idea at all.  The email did in fact contain a link to a spreadsheet with  a brief schedule of classes including wake up and go to bed times.  It appears that he was disciplined at school today and feels that homeschooling may be a better choice.  There are other issues going on as well.  He said that he prayed for guidance and the answer to his prayer was homeschooling.  We will be starting the trial run in the summer and see what happens.  Before bed tonight he tried to show me a dance he had made up.  I was good and did not let him know that if he homeschooled we could probably stay up late on school nights and go to dance practice an hour away.  I also didn't bring up that they could travel during the school year to places like Texas to visit family.  Is it obvious that this change of heart for Gideon is my happy for today?  It may be that he continues in public school, but I'll this for now.
