Another list

So many times the little things are what can help a day be happy.  They can also bring a day down.  One of the purposes of this blog is to find something happy about my day; to think about good things before sleep and try to end the day on a positive note.  To that end I am making a list, again, of some of the little things that made me happy today:

  • Helping students get the design of their CO2 just right.
  • Planting for science.
  • Watching students get excited about a topic they are researching.
  • Hearing from my son and the hopes that he may be able to come visit soon.
  • Spending time with a friend.
  • A Doughnut and a cookie today for Teacher Appreciation week.
  • The generosity of my daughter letting me use her car, indefinitely.
  • Watching this show (Off the Cuf trailer), with a friend and seeing people on there I know, some of them well.
  • Being greeted by Heather, the cat.  She wants so much to walk all over the keyboard...
  • Brushing my teeth.

Heather says hi.  😺

Cars

After school today I began the process of saying goodbye to my car.  I drove it home from the garage and emptied it out.  I will take another look through it but I think I have everything but the dirt.  I even pulled out the stereo.   If I could put my hands on the original stereo,  I would put that back in, but it is most likely in storage.  Maybe I'll get to storage, maybe not.  The mechanics looked it over, stopped calculating the problems at around $1800 and decided it is most likely not worth fixing.  My kids are awesome though and are letting me use one of their cars.  It leaves my daughter without a car during the day, but I only have about six weeks left to the school year and we are in a city so things aren't too far.

The rest of the afternoon was spent with laundry and scratching my Minecraft itch.  My friend from Texas called this afternoon and we played together.  She is still learning (so am I) and I showed her some general harvesting and planting today.  One of these days soon I hope to go exploring some more.  Playing with a friend is my happy for today.

Some leaves are getting closer to opening!

The decline of spring with pictures

One of the things I have notice when traveling south in the spring is how much sooner plants bloom and sprout there than they do in the north.  Today I noted this by taking pictures from Maryland to New Hampshire as we traveled home.  It was a fun trip, but it is good to be back.  My happy for today are the pictures I took of miscellaneous greenery and things.  My traveling companion was still super.  😊

Crown-lots of pics

Over dinner this evening I apologized to Her Majesty for not doing more than be a spectator at the Crown Tournament event today.  She was, of course, gracious and said that I do plenty already.   I was a little confused until I realized she meant by being Baroness.  She asked how many hours I do things when I am not at an event and I said that I don't count that.  This comment of mine was not well received.  I thought a few  minutes, came up with something I had done recently and felt mildly better.  Shortly after that I pulled my phone out, thinking of taking a picture and there were some private messages, Barony business.  I sat there reading and replying for a few minutes and then said, okay, maybe I do more stuff than I think I do.  There followed some chuckles.

It was a nice day of sitting and chatting and stitching for me.  I was near the fighting but only paid small amounts of attention to it until towards the end when there were only a few fighters left and then got to see our new Prince and Princess crowned.

Listening to birds this morning when I awoke and falling asleep with the sounds of frogs and crickets after a long day with friends and activities are my happy things for today.

May the Fourth be with you.

Another short one!

After work today a friend and I drove over seven hours to an Air B&B so that we can attend an event Saturday.  I don't generally tend to travel so far for one day events but we seem to travel well together and I really want to go to as many events as I can for now.  My happy for today is a seven hour drive that we spent mostly talking with some wonderful, much needed, laughter thrown in.  We arrived at the Air B&B just after midnight and so far are extremely pleased-but tired.  It is very spacious and well-kept and just seemed very inviting once we got in the door.  It is placed near a vineyard and I look forward to seeing it in the morning.

From on the road!

Autism-short post

As I set my alarm 45 minutes earlier than usual I am so tired.  Sunday night I couldn't sleep and it has been a week of not early enough nights.  Now as I get ready for sleeping, later than I would have liked, I set the alarm for earlier because I have things to do before I leave.  Waiting for laundry to finish to pack it up or taking care of it in the morning, morning won this time.  It is what it is and it will all turn out fine.

At work today I was doing some research on autism and came across this a website called The Art of Autism.  It is a non profit that, very basically, supports people within the autism community through the arts.  I have really enjoyed the information and art I found there today and it is my happy thing for today.

Happy May Day!

The weather is still not as warm as it seems it should be for this time of year.  I got to see family in Manchester today: K, a cousin, her son and his girl friend.  He is the cousin that we tend to go see anime movies with.  This is the first time K or I have met his girlfriend.  She is really nice and they seem very happy together.  We went out to dinner at a place called Bonfire.  It was a fun place.  I stepped out of my comfort zone with my meal choice and it was really good. I had balsamic chicken pesto on flatbread and with added fresh mozzarella.  Seeing this group of family, new and not-so-new 😉, is my happy for today.

Okay, I don't generally leave the laptop where the cats sleep on it.
She was trying to walk all over it again though when I sat down to write.
