Sunday Meeting Day

It was another day full of meetings.  I expected only one, the bylaw meeting.  After the bylaw meeting there was an impromptu after meeting about some things that have been going on in the Barony.  This meant that I left later than I would have liked to for a weaving day.  I got to there with only an hour left to the weaving event.  There were some lovely things people were working on, but I ended up in a discussion about some of our upcoming events.  When I got home we had a conference call with our chiefs of staff about getting retainers for the event next weekend we are going to.  So, yes, more meetings.

Happy things for the day include:

  • We are finished writing the bylaws!
  • Pretty weaving.
  • Organization.
  • Local fireworks where nobody got hurt--so fireworks usually are an anxiety thing for me, somehow these that were close to the house didn't manage to trigger me much tonight.

Weird Brain Thoughts

It was a hot, lazy day.  K, C, Gideon and I went out this morning to the farmer's market for some breakfast.  The jelly cream filled doughnut I had was delicious.  The heat of the day was heavy though and I took a nap soon after getting home.

My happy things for today are:

  • The doughnut.
  • Sitting down as a family and watching a movie tonight.
  • Figuring out how to use the SD card on my phone which freed up about 8 GB of space (so far).
  • Big, tight, squeeze hugs from Gideon
  • Hearing the rain fall.  Somehow it seems like summer rains have a different sound than other seasons.
  • Sunsets.

Sunset.

And this is where I am going to throw in a tangent.  I've been contemplating the homonyms whole and hole.  These two words that sound the same have such different meanings.  If one is whole then they are a well-adjusted happy person as opposed to having a hole in one's life that is when something missing and things aren't going well.  These aren't the only way these words are used, but those are the meanings my tired brain is stuck on.  I want to come up with some poem or meme or something.  As it is, the more I think about this whole thing, the deeper hole I am digging for myself.  Ugh.

Then there was the doughnut... It was a whole doughnut filled with jelly and cream.  So there is nothing removed from the doughnut in order to fill it with jelly and cream.  But in order to fill it, a hole is made to squeeze all the sweet deliciousness into it.  But the hole is filled so the doughnut is still whole.  Ugh.

It is 1 AM and my brain wants to twist (w)holes.

Mount Major--picture heavy

After getting up on time we didn't get out of the house when we wanted.  Then ran into traffic so-much traffic. So the day did not start as on time as we would have liked.  It was still a good climb.  Gideon did get way over tired and C carried him a good part of the way down.  We are all pretty tired though.  We learned that Gideon needs to go on an easier trail next time.  He has done this one before, but it was a few years ago and he weighs a bit more as a seven year old to carry than a three or four year old did.

My happy for today is that we all made it up Mount Major today.  I am so grateful for my companions who helped Gideon make the trek.

On the way up.

At the top.

Silly hands around a different geological marker.

The second marker we found-close up.

Independence Day

Somehow I woke up this morning and was motivated enough to go for a walk.  I'm not sure what  finally got me to not spend the morning on the phone playing games, maybe seeing my cousin's live stream of the sunrise.  Every morning there is the passing thought of walking.  Seeing that the temperature was under 70 degrees and the day would top out around 90 may have helped with motivating me.  I took my time and played Harry Potter Wizard's Unite during the first part of the walk.  So I still played on my phone only while walking?  Anyhow, I totaled just over five and a half miles.  After getting home I rested for a while with the AC on.

In the afternoon we went to a party at a friend's house.  So there was good food and better company.  After food some started playing a game--an alchemy game that was rather humorous to watch.  "Wait, you made the moon!  I haven't made moon yet."  Followed by someone else's, "I made the sun."  And then there is "You made gun powder but you haven't made stone yet?"

My happy things for today:

  • Friends and family
  • Gideon doing a happy dance singing, "we made the horizon!"
  • Getting my step count for the day done before 9 AM.
  • Flowers along the walk.
  • Holding a BABY!!

Basement Day

We had originally planned to hike Mount Major today but yesterday K & C decided they would need to recover from the long drive from Texas.  What did we do instead?  We cleaned the basement.  Okay, we reorganized it a bit and threw some stuff out.  Some other day I will get back down there and sort through some of my stuff.  Camping season is here and we will be needing a bunch of what we rearranged.  If we don't need it, it can go away.

There are things that we found that I thought was in the storage unit, like a set of snowshoes.  Way too hot today to use those!  C also found his old armor, most of which was gifted to him from his dad.  K might be able to adjust some of it to fit Gideon.  He is still too young to need a metal helmet, but we had him try it on for fun.

Happy things for today include:

  • Just getting to spend time with the family
  • Finding parts to the moped.
  • People volunteering to make stuff.
  • Air conditioning.

Tents

For a short time both my children are under the same roof.  C is visiting from Texas and K finally made it home from her adventures in Texas.  If C's partner, E, had been able to come too, that would be like the icing on the cake.  They brought back not just one pavilion but two.  The second one is huge.  We spread it out but there was no way to set it up today.  It is about 30 feet long--before any ropes- round end, slant wall, marquee.  That one, K is going to try to sell.  The other, that is for K and familyto use, is about a 10 X 12 marquee.  I forgot to measure it.  We set that one up in the backyard of my friend's house where we will be celebrating on Independence Day.  I'll measure it then.

My happy things for today are having my family close (Gideon was so happy to see his mom), friends to share them with, and that K has a car that is working and she loves.

Oh!  And I reached Day 200 learning Spanish!
What did I do to celebrate?  I tried to learn a little Italian.

Short

Sleeping in this morning was a good thing.  Getting ambushed by Baronial minutia before breakfast was not the best, though it is part of the position.  It has been a slow day other than the barrage of emails and text messages this morning and this evening.  Z, Gideon and I went out for a late breakfast/brunch and all played some HP Wizards Unite during our walk home.  I managed to fall asleep again when we got back and not wake up until after four.  I think I am a little sun sick from the sunburn I got on Saturday.

My happy for today is the brunch break we had and that tomorrow I will get to see my kids!
