Almost ready

What I want to say is that as far as I know, I am all packed.  That I can just put everything into the trailer and be ready to go.  But that wouldn't be the whole truth.  At some point tomorrow I plan to repack some of my things to improve on the organization.  For the one night that we will be in a hotel I don't want to need my big suitcase.  There are also a few clothes that K will bring to me tomorrow, they are hanging to dry and I may need to pick up some vitamins at the store because I am almost out.   Close to ready.

Rehearsal was tonight.  I came in too soon a few times and certainly could have improved with my lines here and there.  There is only one more rehearsal and will be at the event.  It is scheduled against a court that I also should attend, but won't.  Rehearsal will be more important.  This is going to be one of those times when it is good that there are both a Baroness and a Baron so that we can each go our own way.

My happy things for today are seeing friends, completion of things on my list of things to do and rehearsal-which is fun even when I mess up.

Sew Much

After repairs, I feel a bit better about the amount of garb I am taking to the event later this week.  There are still things to be done, but I made a good start today and K started making something new for me.  I had a bunch of errands this morning or more would have gotten done.  Tomorrow I have an appointment and then packing and sewing until it is time to go to rehearsal.  Oh, and going over my scenario a lot before tomorrow night.

Another short post, with sewing as my happy for today.

This may not be the best choice for a picture but...
Some of K's white hair is coming in thick!  😜😅

Short Post

It was another hot day.  I stayed inside most of it, trying to sort through all the stuff to find every piece of garb I can to bring to the event.  I didn't find as much as I would have liked.  Well, I found it but much of it needs to be repaired.  My happy from this is that I should have the time to do much of it before going.  There are a few gowns that have been retired until after the event as the repairs are too lengthy to do now.

My other happy for today is that I visited my friend that is working on the map for camp and we finished it.  I've learned quite a bit from this experience that I hope to remember for next year.  On the way home from her place a large deer crossed the road, too far in front of me-and into the woods too fast- to get a picture.  And I think that makes three happy things.  😊

Hot Summer Day

The heat index rose to 107 degrees today.  This was our day to pack as much into the trailer as possible.  I am unbelievably thankful to my friend that allowed us -not only to borrow a bunch of her camping things- but to do all the staging and packing at her house today while taking timely breaks to avoid the heat in her air conditioning.  We would have melted elsewhere.  Even with all that she also asked her son to help and he did!  Such awesome people I have for friends.

These people are my happy things for today as well as the other awesome friend whose trailer we are using and who will be driving me to the big upcoming event.  Her packing skills are tremendous as is her ability to work in today's heat.  Because the four of us were able to get out in the heat for a bit today all the tents are packed as well as all my bedding, lighting, kitchen things, chairs, thrones and other miscellaneous things are packed to go.  Now I can concentrate on clothing and crafts.  I expect tomorrow will include looking for what needs fixing and then sewing all day.  Or sleeping, sleeping is good.  ;)

On the unhappy side of things, today a friend who was supposed to go to this event with us ended up with emergency gallbladder surgery and now she and her husband won't be able to attend.  I'm bumming a little about that but also a little relieved--relieved that this happened before they left to camp 600+ miles from home.  Of course it would have been better had it not happened at all.  They will be missed and I hope her recovery is speedy.

Before we filled the trailer.
I forgot an after shot... I'll try to remember before we leave.

Curia

When K and I sat down to have lunch and talk about our upcoming schedule there were emails that just kept coming in.  Mistakes were made today.  Small tiny ones that escalated to seem to be large.  The kind that may have been overlooked at a different time.  Eventually they stopped, but it really shouldn't have gone on as long as it did.  I think the heat has people just not taking the time to word things in a way that takes another's feelings into consideration.  Tomorrow will be even more hot.  Perhaps I will try to stay away from the internet.

As I once again have managed to fall asleep repeatedly while trying to write this, here is a small list of happy things for today:  toaster pastries, broccoli, the walk to curia, smiling faces, being able to cross today off my list.

Oops

Apparently I forgot to hit the publish button on yesterday's blog yesterday.  That has now been done.  It has been a busy day.  I visited a friend and helped her run errands and we went for a nice walk.  The day was not as hot as the last few days.  The weekend temperatures should get close to 100 degrees though.  I can't say that I am looking forward to that.

This evening was fighter practice and craft night.  I arrived late to both.  Unfortunately, this meant that I missed watching the fencing.  The heavy list fighters decided to practice working as a team toward the end and I have to admit, I enjoy watching that.

There was a bottle that I wanted to return to the brewer at craft night tonight.  I managed to leave the bottle sitting on the kitchen table at home.  Crafts were happening though.  Harp playing and sewing mostly.  Consumption of things that had been brewed was also happening.

Happy things for today:

  • Being able to be there for my friend for errands.
  • Cucumbers and tomatoes are starting to ripen in my friends garden.
  • Fighter practice.
  • Talking over Pennsic and planning
  • Hugs from all the fighters at practice.

Adios

This morning I brought my son to the airport.  They are home now, safely in Texas.  My day was scattered with naps.  Between the naps there was an exchequer training meeting, laundry, phone conversations and a walk.  This morning we learned about a minor policy change in the SCA that had many people concerned.  Thankfully this seems to have resolved itself for now.

Happy things for today include: good news for my friend in Texas, the full moon lighting up the night sky, finding a good person to be deputy exchequer, sleep, big hugs with my son before they left on a plane.

Early morning pictures.
