Wove

This morning I didn't get up and go as quickly as I had hoped I would.  I got a few things checked off my list and one of them was that I started weaving what I warped yesterday.  The ways of the warp and weft are coming back to me.  I also walked to craft night tonight and did some embroidery.  What I need to weave still requires too much brain power for me to do it around people and be sociable, and that is okay.  Apparently, it is also too much brain power for me to do late at night... tomorrow I may decide to undo the last inch I have done... or I may be able to make it work anyway.

On the way back from craft night the moon was rising, orange in the sky.  I extended my walk to try and get a good picture of it for you, reader.  Sometimes my phone impresses me with what it does, tonight that was not the case.  The moon was beautiful as it hung in the sky with the man smiling down on the city.

Chasing the moon, weaving and embroidery are my happy things for today.

Pennsic August 9th.

The penultimate day at Pennsic.  Packing was underway and I took the morning and early afternoon to finish off the Camino de Pennsic quest that I had hoped to do early in the War.

This is the Runestone that was carved in Pennsic 10.

People leave offerings on it.

This is our encampment emptying out.

We still had a fire that night.  🔥

Warped

After much discussion, deciding of what to do, and a bit of frustration a loom has been warped and I plan to start weaving tomorrow.  It has been a while since I have done much weaving and even longer since I wove in silk.  I did practice a little today on another loom, tomorrow the pressure will be on to weave and weave well.  Today my happy is that I got the loom warped.  Yay!

The artist hard at work on a design.

All warped...it's going to be pretty.

Pennsic August 8th highlights:

The day Gideon won Most Chivalrous Fighter in his division.

Baby!!

Every year a viking ship is built and people place shields upon it to commemorate someone who passed away in the last year.  The ship is later burned on the private pond.

The campfire that night.

When it was blown upon just right it looked like an upturned mustache.

Many pictures

This morning I went for a walk with friends and we went three times around a pond totaling three miles.  This evening I walked to where we went out for dinner which was about 3.6 miles.  My step count for the day is over 17,000.  This goes a little way to making up for yesterday and less then 1000 steps.

In other news a ball was dropped and now there is a bunch of things that will need to get done before our next local event.  So very thankful for friends that are around to help and remind me of all the things that are supposed to happen leading up to an event.  I definitely need to work on a time line as to what and when things need to be done going forward to alleviate some of this last minute rushing.  These are things that I knew happened but not how to go about them before becoming a Baroness.  And so they were forgotten.

My happy things for the day are my walks.  Going into the summer I had hoped to climb a few mountains.  This hasn't happened and now my list has grown for the other things that I need to do and pushed climbing down in priority.  Exercise needs to remain higher up on the list though, and walks or going to the gym don't take up the same amount of time as traveling to the mountains for a day long hike does.

Some sights from today's walks.

Going back in time to Pennsic, August 7th, here are a few pictures.

Content Warning--Spiders first paragraph only

It may have been a dream.  It may have been my hair.  Whatever it was. it felt like a spider, skittering across my face to wake me up this morning.  I can find no evidence of the spider.  I spent two weeks camping in a canvas tent with no zippers to keep out pests. I saw plenty of spiders and other insects in that tent, but they seemed to stay away from me while I slept.   I come home and now I have the dream? reality? hallucination? of a spider crawling over me.  This creepy start to my day did not get me out of bed.  I still checked my email, Duo Lingo, and checked in on some games before trying to become active.  I'm calling this my last day of Post Pennsic reentry crud.

K and I did maneuver through the East Kingdom Award Recommendation page and were able to write in three people for awards.  One of them took four tries before the system would let it through.  I also updated my wiki page to being a Baroness.  K had done the majority of my page previously so I am kind of proud of myself for getting it updated.  The picture still should be updated, but I need to find one that I like first.  Someone took a really nice picture of the two of us while at Pennsic that I will need to get permission to use once I find it again.  We also had a surprise visit from a former Baron of Stonemarche.

That paragraph directly above pretty much covers my happy things for today.   That first paragraph was not a happy.

Since I didn't get Pennsic pictures posted the last few days of War I am going to try to pick a few to post over the next couple of days.

On the 6th of August there was a Kingdom Court.  It rained and things got delayed.  We were prepared with umbrellas and stuck it out, waiting for the rain to stop.

A few other folks were prepared...

Many others were not and took refuge in a nearby pavilion.

The rainbow that followed the rain storm.

I would like to add a little note about when one sitting outside in a rain storm that comes along quickly and that will probably end quickly--when leaving the chair for shelter, turn the chair upside down to help avoid a wet bottom when returning.  😁

Really Short Post

Errands were run and some laundry started.  There is still a bunch to do for post Pennsic stuff, but today was mostly a rest day.

My happy for today is that Gideon and Z started learning how to play the card game Pokemon.  Sometimes it is the little things that brings me happiness.  Also, my friend and I picked up a gift for some friends that didn't make it to Pennsic and they liked the gift.  So, yay!

Home Again

Last night we got back to my friend's house-- which I have decided to call my part time home since I tend to stay there a day or two every so often--around 1 AM.  Today, after showers and such we headed out to the trailer and sorted through all the stuff so it could go back to its respective person.  The weather was much more tolerable than the 100 ish degree day we packed things up to go to Pennsic was.

After a nice walk I left my part time home for my main home with K and family.  My intention was to unpack my car when I got back.  This did not happen.  I unpacked some essentials and took a break, then I started to fall asleep.  I fought to stay awake but eventually lost.  Tomorrow more things will get done, today, not so much.

My happy things for today are getting out for a walk and enjoying the lower humidity, talking with my Texas friend and rest.  Self care is important, at least that is what I keep hearing.

Pennsic is Over

There was much packing done this morning and early afternoon.  We didn't finish as early as we'd hoped but I feel that we did a good job getting everything packed.  I am so thankful for all the people that stayed through until today to help with the packing.

The rest of the day has been driving.  Well, I'm riding, my friend is driving.   We are going to push through tonight and get back to our friend's house where sleep will happen and all the stuff will be rearranged and repacked until next time.

It was a good but busy War.  Happy things for today are all the people that helped with breaking down the camp.
