Fog

Driving home tonight I was thinking of starting this with, "My arms are sore, my back is sore, my hands are sore."  But they aren't all that bad.  Today we dyed the fabric.  There is still more to do but my friend's washing machine broke so there was a little set back.  This meant more work by hand.  Not only did we stir the fabric but in order to rinse it, we had to agitate it in a bucket by hand.  It was fun, despite the aches and pains.  I now have a bunch of the fabric and can sew it up over the next few days.  The sooner I sew it, the sooner it can be embellished.  Weaving still has to happen too.

My happy for today is sitting around the table with friends for dinner.  Seven of us, including Gideon and we were very loud.

The weather has warmed some so it has been foggy.

Matching colors didn't work as well as we hoped.

Stirring.

Friday the Thirteenth

March 13, 1981, I passed the exam and got my first driver's license.  It was a Friday.  Some people feel that Friday the 13th is bad luck.  I don't.  It is another day that the earth turns and it is what we make it to be.  As the year gets closer to the end there will be a day will mark the earth having completed a rotation around the sun.  On that day I will decide whether to start a new blog for 2020.  Most likely I will.  Writing seems to have become a good thing for me to do.

My happy for today is that I suddenly am getting contacted by three different friends at the same time using three different types of communication.  There are times when the technology that has been created over the last seems overwhelming.  It is such a far cry from when I was a kid and the phones were connected to the wall.  Then there are times when I feel blessed that I have access to so many ways to connect with people.  💗

Sleep

On the way to work today I listened to this TED about sleep.  When I got home I found out that Z now has his CPAP machine.  I didn't sleep as well as I thought I would last night.  All these things have me believing that I really should work on my sleeping habits.  If you read my blog regularly, you know that I am tired, often.  I take naps and stay up too late.  Lots of bad habits that I should work on turning into good habits.

My happy for today is sitting down with the family and watching stuff.  Simple, but I have been house sitting and I am home now.  Being away was good for a while.  Now, home is good.

Laundry

Tonight is my last night house sitting.  I am doing laundry at a laundromat and it is an oddly familiar experience.   It is late, so it isn't busy.   It is restful and I want to fall asleep.  I've never needed a laundromat long enough to become part of the community of people who use them.  I'm fairly certain my presence was obvious to the attendant.  She made sure to let me know that just because she was leaving,  I didn't need to feel rushed.  The place is supposedly open until midnight, but at least some of the doors were locked at nine.

At work, I keep forgetting to make an appointment to have a review.  I had one scheduled over a month ago and the supervisor couldn't make it because another meeting ran late.  Perhaps,  since it is now on writing, I will remember to schedule it at work tomorrow.

My happy for today is clean laundry and that clean laundromat smell of hot cotton and dryer sheets.

The Weather

A few minutes ago I wrote a Blog post.  Then I though better of it and decided that a post about nepotism would be a poor choice for tonight.  Instead I am going to write about the weather.  The weather is that safe subject to talk about when there is uncomfortable silence; or you just met someone; or there really is a storm coming; or you buy just bread, milk and toilet paper at the store.

Last week we had a storm.  This week the snow has been melting.  It has been foggy and drizzly.  Tonight there may be a little more snow as a cold front comes through.

Okay... uncomfortable silence...

My happy for today is making the choice to not rant about nepotism.  Additional happy things are that I still have my job, a place to live and all the other necessities of life.  My ex-husband turned 55 today, right on schedule, 9 days before I will.  😜

I'd like to think that you, the reader, sees that I still have a sense of humor and is able to read this post as the banter that it is meant to be.

Talking in My Head

Recently, on the way to work, I have been listening to motivational and inspirational talks.  Usually these are uplifting and this was true today.  Dr. Wayne Dyer was who popped up for my listening pleasure.  One of the things he suggested was to say in your head, 'love,' when things are going on that may seem frustrating.  He says these things much better than I.  Anyway, this suggestion did help me today.  It also helped that I remembered to think it when kids were running amok.

When I got home I tried to take a 15 minute power nap.  It turned into four 15 minute power naps and I'm not sure I achieved any power from them today.  I am still very tired.  My happy for today is playing games, which I did this evening.

Dyeing

This afternoon I visited a friend to help her with getting ready for an event in January.  There is a fashion show every year and we have an idea for it.  It requires a certain color and she has been having a hard time getting the right shade.  She showed me what she had come up with so far and we came up with a plan and tried one more test batch.  I think we are both satisfied with the color at this point and will be getting together next weekend to dye the fabric.  After that, the sewing can begin.  I still have to do weaving for this as well.  Still over a month before the event.

She also gave me an early Christmas present-arrows!  I probably won't be able to use them until spring, but they are SO PRETTY!  These things are my happy things for today.  I am so grateful for all my friends.
